    About 

    The Brevard County Firefighters Local 2969 is the labor union that represents professional fire fighters in Brevard County. Local 2969 was founded in 1986 and represents all career fire fighters in Brevard County, Florida. Brevard County Firefighters Local 2969 is an affiliate of the Florida Professional Fire Fighters.

    Local 2969 is an affiliate of the International Association of Fire Fighters (IAFF) which is the driving force behind nearly every advance in the fire and emergency services in the 21st century. With headquarters in Washington, D.C., and Ottawa, Ontario, the IAFF represents more than 341,000 full-time professional fire fighters and paramedics in more than 3,500 affiliates. IAFF members protect more than 85 percent of the population in communities throughout the United States and Canada. 

    Mission Statement 

    The mission of Brevard County Fire Fighters Local 2969 is to be the voice of fire fighters in Brevard County, Florida. We advocate for the health and well-being of our members, build relationships with county officials and community partners to promote the most advanced and safest practices of our profession, and foster community by hosting events and giving to local charities. 

    Our Initiatives 

    Educate and Support Our Members 

    • Educate our members on their rights and protections as fire fighters and union members.
    • Provide and support education on mental health awareness and cancer prevention. 
    • Coordinate with the IAFF Center of Excellence and other entities to provide members with behavioral health services and addiction support. 

    Advocate for Public Safety

    • Host community open houses in collaboration with the fire department to answer questions, discuss policies, and provide a safe and fun space for children and families. 
    • Host free public education events around the community to prevent fires, promote public safety, and amplify fire department initiatives.

    Build Relationships

    • Coordinate with the fire department to make sure public safety services meet the expectations of Brevard County residents.  
    • Meet with commissioners, fire department officials, county employees, legal experts, and community partners to make sure we are adhering to and advocating for the most advanced and safest practices of our profession

    Foster Community 

    • Host community events like golf tournaments and chili cookoffs to donate to community organizations.
    • Sponsor Cancer Awareness in February and contribute donations to Real Men Wear Pink which provides aftercare support for chemo patients.
    • Support and donate to St. Baldricks to bring awareness to and provide treatment to children with cancer. 
    • Sponsor trauma relief programs to bring animals to natural disaster relief sites to provide therapy and calm.
